Deportistas mexiquenses compiten por un lugar en los Juegos Panamericanos

Tras meses de intensa preparación, 24 atletas de la Asociación de Deportes Sobre Silla de Ruedas del Estado de México, participarán en el Abierto de Para-Atletismo de San Luis Potosí, que se desarrollará del 15 al 18 de diciembre, con el que arrancarán su proceso para calificar a los Juegos Parapanamericanos “Lima 2019”.

La delegación mexiquense cuenta con juventud y experiencia, ya que entre las filas de las y los asistentes hay atletas que ya tienen en su historia deportiva participaciones internacionales de relevancia, además de jóvenes que estarán en busca de su primera oportunidad a nivel internacional.

La medallista mundial Gloria Zarza Guadarrama, así como Érik Alejandro de Santos Espinoza y Érick Ortiz Monroy, compiten en la modalidad de campo; mientras que Juan Pablo Cervantes García en la modalidad de pista.

Gloria, quien entrena en la selección nacional, detalló que se siente motivada con esta participación y con el compromiso de dar un buen resultado, además de tener la confianza de entrenar en el Centro Paralímpico Mexicano y con ello tener al grupo interdisciplinario a su disposición, para concentrarse sólo en mejorar sus marcas.

“Realmente estoy contenta por las marcas que he dado en los entrenamientos, porque no esperábamos que las estuviera alcanzando, entonces, espero dar un buen resultado en el abierto y voy con todas las ganas”, detalló.

Entre los más jóvenes están Gerarda Sarahí Vidal y Alejandro Cruz, quienes forman parte de una generación de atletas que se han formado en el Estado de México y que en Paralimpiada Nacional han representado con éxito a la entidad.

Los atletas buscarán mejorar las marcas requeridas para la justa continental, además de estar entre los mejores lugares de la contienda y esperar a la asignación de plazas que tenga el país para cada deporte, para obtener su boleto a los Parapanamericanos “Lima 2019”.
