La policía confirmó la muerte de un peatón y del agresor, así como ocho lesionados, de los cuales dos se encuentran en estado muy grave.
El joven armado ha sido identificado como un joven ruso de origen checheno, nacido en 1997, según informa el diario francés Le Monde.
La prensa francesa asegura que el asaltante, abatido por la policía en la céntrica zona de Ópera, ha podido ser identificado por sus huellas dactilares. Además, los padres del joven han sido puestos bajo custodia policial.
La Fiscalía antiterrorista abrió anoche una investigación por «asociación terrorista criminal para preparar crímenes contra las personas así como los cargos de asesinato y tentativa de asesinato contra personas depositarias de la autoridad pública con fines terroristas».
El fiscal de París, François Molins, explicó que se ha abierto una investigación antiterrorista debido a que el sospechoso acuchilló indiscriminadamente a peatones y gritó «Allah Akbar» (Alá es grande). El periodista Remy Busine ha publicado un vídeo de la escena tras el ataque.
El grupo terrorista ISIS se atribuyó anoche el ataque en un comunicado difundido por la agencia Amaq, cuya autenticidad no ha podido ser confirmada, y en el que asegura que el ataque fue lanzado por un «soldado del Estado Islámico».
